It’s that time of year… The time when we are feeling the effects of all the holiday goodies consumed over the past 6 weeks. As much as I enjoy indulging, I also get burnt out on the sweets and junk food. Especially now that I’m a mom. I look forward to getting back to our normal routine, which includes much healthier eating habits.
There seems to be two camps when it comes to snacks: those for and those against. Some people believe snacking is a big contributor to obesity and other people believe snacking is crucial to maintaining a healthy weight. My take? I know that I, personally, am healthier when I have a small snack between meals. I am much less likely to overeat at lunch and dinner because I’m not famished and I feel generally more energized when I allow myself snacks.
I think the key is making sure you are eating healthy snacks and that you are listening to your body (in other words, eat when you are hungry and stop when you are satisfied).
I tend to get in a snack rut, though. I end up getting the same snacks over and over and I get bored with it. Does that happen to you? So I sat down last week and came up with a list of SEVENTY snack options. What do you think? Do any of these sound appetizing to you?

These are fantastic! We generally do really simple at our house–Triscuits (only 3 ingredients!) with a slice of cheese or peanut butter, fresh fruit, veggies with hummus, or peanut butter banana smoothies. Yum!

Fresh fruit is definitely a staple for us, and we love Triscuits too. Simple but yummy!
