I’ve seen this book recommended EVERYWHERE. I kinda felt left out not having read it! So I finally snagged it from my library. 📚♥️
.
City of Girls was SO GOOD. I gave it 4 stars, but kinda wanted to give it 5 (so maybe that’s a 4.5?). My only complaint was that it seemed to go on and on in some parts. But the story captured me from page 1, surprised me, delighted me, and saddened me. It’s a story about love, heartbreak, friendship, and more love like I’ve never read before.

Been seeing this book alllll over Instagram. I finally read it. If you LOVE rom-coms, you’ll probably love it. If you sorta like rom-coms, you’ll probably sorta like it. In other words, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a romantic comedy.

(I found it unbelievable and predictable. But aren’t rom-coms in general? It was entertaining and I did finish it. So I gave it 3 stars.)

I snapped this quickly this morning, just before putting the book in the library book return. I stayed up way too late trying to finish it but fell asleep. 😴
So I had to finish the last 20 pages in the library parking lot. 😂
.
I really loved this book. It was so juicy and satisfying. Has a Big Little Lies vibe, and if you’ve followed me a while you probably know I am big Liane Moriarty fan. 😍
.
I was skeptical of a male author writing a novel from a woman’s perspective. And I did feel like the main characters could have used more development. I didn’t really identify with any of them, but I think I could have had they been given some more depth.
.
Despite that, this book had me hooked! I found it very entertaining and a nice, fast paced read. I finished this book with that readers high where you feel so satisfied with the ending and think about the story for hours after. I gave it five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Mermaid Chair has been on my shelf and #tbrlist for ages. I finally read it while waiting for a library hold.

This book surprised me, which I always appreciate. Because I’m pretty much guessing the ending of a book starting at the first page. (This is one area of my life in which I love surprises. 😉)

This is a book about an empty nester stay-at-home-mom and housewife who finds herself on a journey of self-discovery and awakening while on an emergency trip to her small island home off the Carolinas. She learns some hard truths along the way, and finds herself facing some hard decisions to make.

The book is Wishtree by Katherine Applegate, author of The One and Only Ivan. I read it with my daughters (ages 6 and 8) and we all three enjoyed it. Check out my story from today for a little more about the book!

We’ve recently discovered George’s Amazing Adventures! These books are a big hit! The illustrations are whimsical and the rhymes are so fun to read. All three of my kids are enjoying these, including my almost-8 year old who has been reading chapter books since kindergarten. Highly recommend these for kids 3 and up. ♥️📚♥️

After reading The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin, this went on my #tbrlist. Great book about a young couple who works as research assistants to a psychologist studying sleep disorders. Things get complicated when lines of legality and morality become blurred when sleep study participants are trained to become lucid during their dreams.

Pickle Update:
They are DELICIOUS. My pickle-loving kid even says she loves them more than her favorite store-bought pickles. I made two jars, one had a few slivers of red onion. Those were my favorite.

Place pickle slices or spears in a 16 ounce mason jar. Mix 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons pickling spice, a pinch sugar and 1/3 cup white vinegar. Pour over cucumbers and fill the jar the rest of the way with water. Add a few sprigs of fresh dill. Tightly fasten jar and shake. Refrigerate.
These pickles are supposed to be ready to enjoy in just 10 minutes! We waited 24 hours and they were fantastic. Perfectly crunchy and great flavor. The longer they sit, the stronger the flavor but they lose a little crunch.
