I think it was about a year ago that I became obsessed with smoothies. It was when I discovered green smoothies and all their goodness, and I realized I could sneak a bunch of spinach and kale into a delicious drink my kids would beg for. Then I began to experiment and discover other ways of making delicious and healthy smoothies. Before then, I thought smoothies were basically a dessert disguised as breakfast (like cinnamon rolls and danishes!).
Truth be told, though, I do prefer my smoothies to taste like dessert. And this cherry cheesecake smoothie I’ve been playing around with is ah-mazing. It’s a household favorite – because let’s be honest… cheesecake.
Don’t be fooled by the dessert-inspired name and flavors of this smoothie. It’s not packed with sugar, I promise. In fact, it’s packed with tons of protein. And the protein comes from food, not yucky tasting powder. (I’m sorry, but I have yet to find a protein powder that tastes good.) Just simple ingredients: cherries, milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, and honey. If your grocery store has Michigan brand small curd cottage cheese, try it. It is seriously so delicious.
It’s perfect for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack when you need something to keep you feeling satisfied until your next meal. Or if you need a breakfast on-the-go, this would be perfect for that too.
Ok, enough teasing. Here’s the recipe. Try it and let me know what you think!
